10 year celebration trip to Wellington

UPDATE: Read our recounts about this day here

Today the entire school went to Te Papa and Frank Kitts Park to celebrate the school being open for 10 years. Next week we are going to write recounts about what we did. Here are some photos of what we did.

We started the day at the park with ice blocks

Then we went to Te Papa. We went to Awesome Forces and to look at the Colossal Squid.

Then we went back to the park for our lunch. After lunch we did some sketching and then played in the park which is what many people were looking forward to.

Unfortunately our day had to come to an end. Here is B2 waiting for the bus, some looking a bit tired.

Overall it was a fantastic trip. Thanks to Miss Jury, Mrs Tuifao and Ms Jury as well as all the other teachers, staff, parents and students who made the day possible.

Next week we will be writing recounts about our trip.

This week in B2 - Term 4 Week 6

This week has been a busy week in B2. We managed to be blessed with a couple of sunny days so managed to get down to Wainuiomata Pool for some swimming on Tuesday and Thursday.

On Tuesday 68 students from Yrs 4-6 including 11 people from B2 went to the Inter-School Athletics Day. Hopefully we will have some reports from some of these students next week to share with you.

Those who stayed at school completed an art activity based on the book The Taniwha of Wellington Harbour. We had to then draw a scene from the story or a picture inspired by the book. Here are some pictures of us drawing our ideas in pencil first.

We then used crayon and dye to bring in some colour. We used a mixture of green and blue dye. Here are some of the finished artworks drying.

We are also learning about speaking and performing this term. This week each reading group was given a play to learn and present to the class on Friday. Every group worked well on their plays. Some people even learned their lines off by heart.
Every group seemed to enjoy themselves so much we are going to do plays again next week as well!!

Finally, on Friday we found out about St Claudine's 10 year anniversary celebration day. Next Friday (assuming we have fine weather) the WHOLE SCHOOL is going on a trip into Wellington to do some fun activities including a scavenger hunt, look around Te Papa and go the Frank Kitt's Park.
Everyone was incredible excited when they found out.

Come back next week to see some photos from our trip and some more of our learning.

Guy Fawkes art and writing

On Wednesday we made chalk art firework scenes with Mrs Topp. Today we wrote recounts about Guy Fawkes or wrote instructions to tell someone how we made the artwork.

Enjoy :)  (Note there will be even more publishes tomorrow!)
