Read some of the Athletics Day recounts we have written.
Athletics Day
Yesterday at St Claudine Thevenet School we had
athletics day. Parents showed up and supported their kids. I ran so hard I nearly fell running.

Athletics day
As I wake up in the morning I open the curtains and look at the bright blue sky and the
shining magical sun. I get up, get dressed, make my lunch and have breakfast. Off I go.
Ring, ring! The bell goes. Athletics athletics off I go onto the field. Everyone starts cheering "Go McGowan lets go McGowan lets go"(clap clap). Mr Mac blows the whistle. Everyone stops and says next up is the year sixes. "Go McGowan you can do it." Everyone's cheering you can do it. Next up is the year fives. "Go Hanna, go McGowan you can do it. Jog on the first one and sprint on the last race."

ATHLETICS
On Tuesday the 28th of October it was
Athletics day. I was so excited, but at the same time I was nervous. Our whole
school took place at the field.
Soon it was time to begin, but even before that we
had to change into our house colours. The different colours people wore were
red, yellow, green, blue and purple. I was in red which is McGuire.
Then the clock struck eleven. OH NO! It was time for
athletics. Soon I remembered I had to get my water bottle. So I hurried and
went to get it. Then we all walked to the field in our house groups.
“Now the year fives”. My heart was beating as soon as
I was at the starting line. “BAM!” I started running as fast as I could, but my
legs were not fast enough to beat the two runners in front of me. I didn’t want
to let myself down so I sprinted as fast as I could. “Phew!” At least I came 3rd.
Races passed on, and I thought to myself “when is our
race again?”
Then I heard “year fives”. So I walked to the
starting line again. This time I have butterflies in my stomach. WHOOSH! We all
ran as fast as we could. People were cheering and doing their chants. As I past
the finish line I received a stick. Even though I came third again I felt proud
of myself.
“Ring Ring!” Then the lunch bell rang. So that meant
eating! But soon I had realized I had to do a RELAY! “NOOOOOO”.
After a while…
Then it was time for relay! So I got ready into my
position. I looked behind me and I saw people running, so that meant I had to
get ready. WHOOSH! I was running so hard my legs got sore. But I said to myself
“too bad keep going”. At the end I felt really happy! Even though I didn’t come
1st, 2nd or 3rd.
Finally we all got changed back to our school
uniform. We all waited till home time. I think athletics was fun!!!!
